The piece

Open the app, or bring it back to the front if it's already running. It resumes where it was — nothing is reinstalled or reset.

Reach for it when

  • Starting the part of the test that happens inside the app.
  • Coming back after Navigate → Home, or after something else took the foreground.

Every setting this block has. A field marked only when appears once you have chosen the mode above it — those are alternatives to each other, not extra things to fill in.

The app's id — e.g. com.example.app (Android) or com.example.MyApp (iOS). Install App reports the id it installed, so you can drop its Package field in here instead of typing it.

Build it
  1. Name the app

com.example.app on Android, com.example.MyApp on iOS. Install App reports the id it installed, so drop its Package field in here instead of typing one.

Nothing is reinstalled and nothing is reset. If it was already open on the checkout screen, that is the screen you get.

  3. Wait for the screen before you act on it

Launching returns as soon as the app is foregrounded, which is earlier than its first screen finishes drawing.

What comes out
  • Nothing new — assert on the screen it landed on.
Watch out
  • For a cold start, Terminate App first. Launch on its own will happily resume a warm one, and a bug that only happens on cold start will never show.
